Reaction'The player he is, you can't describe' - Tsimikas' glowing review of Alexander-Arnold

Alexander-Arnold struck an 80th-minute equaliser to ensure Jürgen Klopp's side left Etihad Stadium with a hard-earned point against the reigning Premier League champions, who had led through Erling Haaland's first-half goal in Manchester.

And speaking to Liverpoolfc.com afterwards, Tsimikas saluted the impressiveness of his vice-captain's key contribution under pressure.

"Of course he is confident, we are Scousers you know!" said the Greece international. "I can't imagine how calm he was because if that was me, I couldn't stay calm!

"The player he is, you can't describe it. Everybody in the football world knows. It was a very good goal, very important and I am very happy for him and for the team."

In fighting back for the draw, Liverpool became the first team to stop City from winning at their home in 2023, a run that had reached 23 games.

"Yes, it is a very difficult place to come against one of the best teams in the world," Tsimikas said.

"[It is] a very tough place to come and play football, but at the end the only thing that matters in football is the three points.

"At the end we get one, we will deal with it and we will go with the same hunger, because I think it's too early to talk about a title race.

"We will go with it and we will fight harder."

The result leaves Liverpool third in the Premier League table after 13 matches, heading into what promises to be a busy winter period, with Europa League fixtures and a Carabao Cup quarter-final to come on top of the Reds' league schedule.

Asked to sum up the team's ambitions, Tsimikas said: "I believe we have a very good team. All the players that came in [during the summer] make us even stronger, so very talented players.

"I think we have everything to fight for everything, so we will go for it. I've said many, many times [that] we set our goals at the start of the season; we want to win everything, the Premier League games, cup games and the Europa League.

"So I think the future can be bright for us and we have to give everything and to fight in every moment."
