The summer recruits each found the target during the first half at Wembley, opening their accounts in their first competitive appearances since joining the Reds, who were eventually beaten on penalties after a 2-2 draw.

It is the first time two players have netted on their debut for the club in the same match since August 2006, when Craig Bellamy and Mark Gonzalez did so against Maccabi Haifa.
