Get the lowdown on Wolverhampton Wanderers ahead of Liverpool’s trip to Molineux in the Premier League on Tuesday night.

Season so far

Wolves recorded their second victory of the top-flight campaign by beating Aston Villa 2-0 at home on Friday.

Goals from Joao Gomes and Rodrigo Gomes during the second half secured the win.

Rob Edwards’ side do, though, remain somewhat adrift at the bottom of the Premier League table with 13 points overall from their 29 matches.

Previous meeting

The Reds ground out a 2-1 victory when Wolves visited Anfield in late December.

After quickfire strikes by Ryan Gravenberch and Florian Wirtz before half-time, Santiago Bueno responded early in the second half – but the home side held their lead.

Team news

Hee Chan Hwang has recovered from a calf strain, Ladislav Krejci has served his suspension and Andre is fit despite limping off against Villa.

It means Edwards has a fully fit squad to select from for the first of two Liverpool visits this week.

What they said

Edwards, head coach

“The beginning of the game is important. We’ve got to make sure that we’re in the game. We have to start well – it’s really important. These teams invariably start really strong and quickly.

“So, we’ve got to make sure from the first minute we’re engaged and focused and we’re tracking runners, we’re getting there with the right numbers, we’re defending very, very well.

“But in the moments when we can, we’ve got to take the ball and be very good and clean with it as well. But I think like the other night [against Villa], the longer the game goes on and we’re in it then I think we can get stronger.”

Pre-match stats
