Get the lowdown on Nottingham Forest ahead of their visit to Anfield in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Season so far

Forest have collected nine points from their 11 games in the league this season, and sit 19th in the table.

Four of those points have come in their past two outings, though, a 2-2 draw with Manchester United followed by a 3-1 win over Leeds United - both at home.

They were eliminated from the Carabao Cup by Swansea City in September, while in the Europa League Forest have posted one victory, two draws and one loss.

Sean Dyche was appointed as manager in October, the club's third boss of the campaign. He followed Nuno Espirito Santo and Ange Postecoglou.

Key players

Morgan Gibbs-White and Chris Wood are the only players to have scored more than once for Forest in the league this term, with two goals each.

Elliot Anderson has played the fourth-most passes in the division in 2025-26 (786).

Goalkeeper Matz Sels, meanwhile, has made 37 saves in the Premier League, the third-highest tally.

Previous meetings

Forest had the edge over Liverpool across the clubs' two clashes last season.

They claimed a 1-0 victory at Anfield early in the campaign, courtesy of Callum Hudson-Odoi's second-half finish.

Wood gave them a lead in the return fixture, too, but Diogo Jota came off the bench to equalise for the eventual champions.

Team news

At his pre-match press conference, Dyche revealed that of Forest's currently injured players, only Hudson-Odoi could make a return on Merseyside.

"He's around it," Dyche said on Thursday. "If today's gone well and he feels OK, tomorrow goes well, at least we can think about him being back in the fold, in the group, so that will be a positive."

Sidelined are Ola Aina, Dilane Bakwa, Aaron Bott, Angus Gunn, Douglas Luiz, Wood and Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Match report

What they said

Dyche

"You want a team and yourself to be confident wherever you go. There's no guarantee with these things but I think we've got a team that can compete. That's a big thing I work [on] with the group: we want to be competitive in every game no matter where we are, no matter what level we're playing at, cup, league, irrelevant. Every game means something. We're beginning to build that mentality.

"After last season [at Anfield], I remember the performance and the result, you've got to deliver some of that as well. You've got to defend well and you've got to play well, whatever the style is. On that day it was soak up and absorb and counter. Whether you play in that style or more open or try to play long, short, you've got to be on your A game to beat these teams, particularly at their place. We know that and the players are aware of that."

Pre-match stats

  • Forest have scored as many goals in their three Premier League games under Dyche (five) as they had in their first eight of the season under Nuno (four) and Postecoglou (one) beforehand.
  • Gibbs-White has netted in both of Forest's last two league outings and will be aiming to score in three successive league appearances for the first time in his career.
  • No team has scored more goals in the opening 15 minutes of Premier League matches than Forest this term (three).
