Find out all you need to know about Leicester City before Liverpool's visit to King Power Stadium on Sunday.

Recent form

The Foxes last tasted victory on January 26, beating Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 away from home.

They have been defeated in all nine of their following matches in the league and cup.

That run came to an end last weekend when Ruud van Nistelrooy's men came from behind twice to draw 2-2 at Brighton & Hove Albion.

Leicester sit 19th in the league standings on 18 points. They will be confirmed as relegated if West Ham United beat Southampton on Saturday or if the Foxes fail to beat Liverpool.

Key players

Goals have been hard to come by this term and they have the second-fewest in the Premier League with 27.

Jamie Vardy's seven strikes in the league are the most for his side, with Jordan Ayew, Facundo Buonanotte and Stephy Mavididi next-best on four apiece.

Vardy has also assisted on three occasions in the top flight, one behind team leader Wilfred Ndidi.

Team news

Wout Faes and Jeremy Monga have both returned to training in the build-up and are available again after spells on the sideline.

With no fresh concerns following the trip to Brighton, Abdul Fatawu now appears to be the Foxes' only injury absentee.

Buonanotte was unable to play against his parent club and Victor Kristiansen missed out because of a personal matter.

Previous meetings

Liverpool ran out 3-1 winners in the fog at Anfield when the sides met on Boxing Day, recovering from going 1-0 down thanks to goals from Cody Gakpo, Curtis Jones and Mohamed Salah.

As Leicester competed in the Championship last season, the Reds' last visit to King Power Stadium came in May 2023.

Jones scored a quickfire double in the first half that evening and was joined on the scoresheet by Trent Alexander-Arnold.

What they said

Van Nistelrooy, Leicester manager

"We have been in this circumstance for a longer time now and it's not a matter of mathematically it being done or not. It's about us showing ourselves in the best possible way for every minute that we're in this league. It doesn't affect that bit.

"The way we performed [at Brighton] was a positive. Breaking a cycle was important to show that we're capable of that, we're still alive, that we still have spirit to prove ourselves no matter what the circumstances are mathematically. We will continue that for the coming six games."

Pre-match stats

  • Leicester have won just two of their last 13 Premier League games against Liverpool, with both these wins coming consecutively at home in 2021.
  • The Foxes have lost both of their previous league matches played on Easter Sunday.
  • The last eight top-flight meetings between Leicester and Liverpool at King Power Stadium have seen four wins apiece, with the home side winning two of the last three.
  • Having scored seven goals in his first eight Premier League appearances against the Reds, Vardy has since netted just once in his last eight.
