MatchThe opposition lowdown: Fulham

Season so far

Before this weekend's round of fixtures, Fulham sat 11th in the Premier League table on 27 points from 19 games, having won eight, lost eight and drawn three so far.

They enter this match on the back of a 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace in midweek.

Prior to that, the Cottagers earned back-to-back 1-0 wins over West Ham United and Nottingham Forest.

Key players

A familiar face to Liverpool in Harry Wilson has proved an important figure under head coach Marco Silva this term.

The Welsh attacker has produced five goals and four assists, with his efforts complemented by Raul Jimenez's four goals and two assists.

Emile Smith Rowe has found the back of the net on three occasions.

Alex Iwobi and Samuel Chukwueze have also been key contributors in the final third, but both are away at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Team news

The hosts look set to be without Josh King, Rodrigo Muniz, Ryan Sessegnon and Kenny Tete due to injury.

Like Iwobi and Chukwueze, Calvin Bassey is also on international duty at AFCON.

What they said

Fulham head coach Silva

"We recognise the quality they have – that is why they were champions and they started so, so well [this] season.

"The reaction, the results, they have been better [recently] and, of course, they expected to win the last game but the Premier League is very tough and Leeds played their part and did it well.

"Of course now it's going to be a new game, a new story as well, [and] a short period between both games for both teams."

Pre-match stats

  • Fulham have won five of their last eight Premier League home games (lost three), keeping a clean sheet in four of those. Those four shutouts are already twice as many as they kept at Craven Cottage last season.
  • They have won just one of their last 19 Premier League games against the reigning champions (drew three, lost 15), though that victory did come against Liverpool in March 2021 (1-0 at Anfield).
  • The Reds have not kept a clean sheet in their last 10 league visits to Fulham, the last coming in April 2009 when Yossi Benayoun scored a stoppage-time winner.
  • Not since April 1963 has there been a goalless draw between the sides at Craven Cottage.
