MatchThe opposition lowdown: Everton
Season so far
The Toffees have totalled seven points from their opening four Premier League games of the campaign.
After a 1-0 defeat away at Leeds United on matchday one, David Moyes’ team began a new era at Hill Dickinson Stadium with a 2-0 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion.
Either side of the international break, they won 3-2 on the road against Wolverhampton Wanderers and then played out a goalless stalemate with Aston Villa.
Key players
On-loan Jack Grealish has tallied the most assists across the Premier League so far in 2025-26 with four, and he was named the division’s August Player of the Month.
Iliman Ndiaye leads the Blues’ fledgling scoring chart in the top flight on two strikes. Beto, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and James Garner have each netted once.
Previous meetings
The clubs clashed twice in the space of seven weeks earlier this year, with Everton snatching a late draw in the contest at former home Goodison Park.
In the return at Anfield, a single goal from Diogo Jota ensured three points for the Reds and moved Arne Slot’s side a step closer to the title.
What they said
Everton manager Moyes
“We want to keep our good form going and we look forward to going to Anfield and seeing how we perform. Any big derbies in any big cities are really important. This has always been an incredibly difficult game for me personally because we’ve always come up against really good Liverpool teams that have had some great players over the years and made it really hard for us. We’ve always been competitive – it will not change and we’ll always do everything we can to try to get a victory.”
Pre-match stats
– Everton have won six of their last 11 away Premier League matches (two draws, three defeats), as many as they had won in their previous 30 combined.
– Only three players have completed more take-ons in the top flight this season than Blues duo Grealish and Ndiaye (both eight).
– Grealish has more Premier League goal involvements against Liverpool than he does versus any other side (seven – three goals, four assists).
– Moyes’ side have the highest duels won percentage in the division so far this term – 56 per cent.
