The fitness of Ibrahima Konate will be checked ahead of Liverpool's Premier League fixture at Newcastle United.

The centre-half has been labelled a doubt for Sunday's encounter at St. James' Park due to a muscle issue.

However, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alexis Mac Allister are both available for the Reds in the 4.30pm BST kick-off.

Alexander-Arnold has recovered from the knock that forced him off in last weekend's win over AFC Bournemouth, while the club's appeal against the red card Mac Allister received in that game was successful.

Thiago Alcantara and Curtis Jones are edging closer to a return but remain sidelined for the trip to the north east.

Offering a fitness update on Friday, Jürgen Klopp said: "Trent yes. Thiago from Monday on. Curtis from Monday on. And Ibou is a doubt. Yeah, playing 40 minutes with 10 men didn't help, let me say it like that. But that's the situation. The rest should be available."

Luis Diaz could make his 50th appearance for Liverpool, as the Colombian forward looks to become just the fourth Red in history to score in their first three matches of a Premier League season.

Meanwhile, Newcastle have been given the boost that Joelinton avoided serious injury when he limped off in their defeat at Manchester City.

Lewis Hall is also in contention to feature after completing his transfer from Chelsea earlier in the week, though the match does come too soon for the injured Joe Willock.

"[Joelinton] is fine," head coach Eddie Howe told reporters. "We didn't see him in the early part of the week but he trained in the latter part so fingers crossed he's OK."

On new signing Hall, Howe continued: "He's fit, he's in contention. He's obviously done minimal training with us."
