Reaction'More like it' - Andy Robertson's verdict on Liverpool's cup win at Wolves
The Reds advanced to the quarter-finals on Friday night after an impressive second-half showing at Molineux, where they had been beaten three days earlier in the Premier League.
Robertson scored a fine opener from distance and then delivered an assist to Mohamed Salah seconds later to set the visitors on their way to a last-eight berth.
Curtis Jones added their third of the fifth-round tie with 74 minutes on the clock, while Hwang Hee-chan completed the scoring with a consolation for Wolves in stoppage time.
Shortly after the final whistle, vice-captain Robertson spoke to BBC Sport – read on for the full interview.
On the win being 'a bit more like it' after Tuesday's defeat...
Yeah, a bit more like it. We know we let ourselves down on Tuesday, obviously not the performance that we expect of ourselves. It's very rare you get to play the same team three days later, so it was up to us to go and put it right and we knew the FA Cup is do or die, you know you're either in or you're out. Thankfully we're into the quarter-finals.
On his goal...
Probably quite rare. It just opened up and thankfully I hit it clean. Most of them usually go over the bar during my time at Liverpool, so I'm glad I managed to get one in the net! Look, it set us on our way and then obviously to get a goal so quickly after it is pleasing. I thought we controlled the game quite well up until the 92nd minute when we lose a clean sheet, which is frustrating. But cup competitions are all about getting through and we're delighted to get through now.
On whether he felt he had 'a bit of a point to prove tonight'...
I'm not sure I've got a point to prove in a Liverpool shirt. I think the fans know that I give everything every time I come on the pitch and I hope they believe that and I've done that for nine years now, so it's not really that. It's just when you get on the pitch, you just want to enjoy it. I love playing football, I love training with these lads, I love playing with them. When you get the opportunity to go on the pitch, I just want to make the most of it and I think I did that today.
On if he feels he 'deserves to play more this season'...
Look, it is what it is. Milos [Kerkez] is a fantastic left-back, [had an] unbelievable season last season at Bournemouth, took a little bit of time to settle in to a big club, which everyone does. But you know the club has to move forward. The lads that have been here for so long, we're not getting any younger, we're all in our 30s now and you know the replacements have to come in. We know that. That's what we want from the club. We want them to be ambitious and we want them to go and compete on all fronts. So look, you have to accept it. I've had competition my whole career and no different this season. Obviously I've not played as many games as maybe I would have liked but that's part of football. Just when you do play, you've just got to go enjoy it and I think I did that tonight.
On the potential for this to 'still be a special season'...
Of course it can. We try to fight on all fronts. Obviously the Carabao Cup didn't work out, the Premier League's not worked out, but we're still in two cup competitions. If we play like we did tonight then nobody wants to play against us. But we've just been a little bit inconsistent this season, that's the fact of it. If we perform like we did tonight then I think we'll be better off for it and we can go far in both competitions. But we have to start showing that consistency because it's like one step forward, two steps back at times. We have to put a run of form together from now to the end of the season to achieve what we want to achieve.
