The Egypt international was the highest finisher among the four Reds players who had been named on the 30-man shortlist for the prestigious prize.

Salah, of course, produced one of the greatest individual seasons in English football history during 2024-25 to help fire Arne Slot’s team to Premier League glory.

He topped the charts for both goals scored (29) and assists provided (18) in the division, being named its Player of the Season and collecting the FWA Footballer of the Year and PFA Players’ Player of the Year honours.

Paris Saint-Germain’s Ousmane Dembele was crowned the Ballon d’Or winner in Paris after a vote of football journalists from FIFA’s top 100 ranked nations.

Liverpool stars Alexis Mac Allister, Virgil van Dijk and Florian Wirtz were placed 22nd, 28th and 29th in the main poll respectively.

Elsewhere at the awards, the Reds’ Alisson Becker was runner-up in the voting for the Yachine Trophy accolade, dedicated to goalkeepers, which was claimed by Gianluigi Donnarumma.
