Mohamed Salah believes Liverpool can take renewed confidence from their 2-0 Champions League victory over Napoli at Anfield.

Highlights: Liverpool 2-0 Napoli

The Reds claimed three points on Tuesday night thanks to close-range strikes from Salah and substitute Darwin Nunez in the latter stages of the encounter.

Both goals required VAR intervention before being awarded, while the Serie A visitors also had an effort ruled out earlier in the contest with the use of technology.

Liverpool had already qualified for the last 16 prior to the game but were confirmed as runners-up in Group A following the result.

Salah – who scored his 41st European goal to move level with Steven Gerrard in the club record books – gave his post-match reaction to BT Sport.

Liverpool 2-0 Napoli: Five talking points from Anfield

AnalysisLiverpool 2-0 Napoli: Five talking points from AnfieldLiverpool concluded their Group A Champions League campaign with a 2-0 victory over Napoli on Tuesday night.

On the feeling after the victory…

To win against one of the best teams in the world and one of the best coaches in the world – it's always a good feeling, but we just need to carry on. It's a good result for us. Hopefully it gives us more confidence and [we] just now need to focus on the cup and in the league and carry on.

On a game of fine margins with VAR intervention...

In the end we just get the result, which is very important. Also, we played a good game against a tough team, so hopefully it gives us more confidence now.

On the wait for his goal to be given...

Honestly, I didn't know because the ball is in, they didn't say for which player exactly... anyone can score, the most important thing is the team. As a striker I like to score, Darwin also likes to score, so we're glad that we get both.

On Napoli being tough opposition...

Yeah, of course, it's a difficult team – one of the best in the world at the moment.

On trying to put a run of results together now...

I think it's important that the win today gives us more confidence, especially [because] we played a good game with the ball [and] without the ball. [We] tried to recover the ball quick. As you can see in the league, we're not doing great – but hopefully with that [it] will give us a little bit [of a] push. We just need to win more games in the league.
