Liverpool FC Women manager Matt Beard has confirmed winger Melissa Lawley is set to have an operation on a hip problem.

The Reds' No.11 is therefore ruled out for the remainder of 2022-23 and will undertake rehabilitation for the issue.

Speaking at his pre-Leicester City press conference ahead of Saturday's visit to King Power Stadium, Beard said: "Unfortunately, Mel is going to be out with a hip problem and she is probably going to need an operation.

"Without going into the ins and outs, she is probably going to be out for six months all in all, post-operation."
