The young Reds claimed the 16th and final qualification place in the division’s end-of-season play-offs by drawing 2-2 with Aston Villa last Friday.
Barry Lewtas’ side were therefore seeded to face City, who finished top of the regular-season table, in a single-leg tie away from home.
Liverpool beat City 3-1 on the opening day of the 2024-25 PL2 campaign back in August.
