ClubLocal schoolgirls meet LFC Women squad at AXA Melwood Training Centre

The group from St Brigid’s Primary School in Stockbridge Village regularly attend a girls-only after-school club delivered by LFC Foundation as part of its Premier League Primary Stars programme.

The programme allows the girls to take part in regular sport sessions after school, providing them with an opportunity that they would not otherwise have.

With the girls all having a strong interest in football and wanting to learn more from role models in the game, they were invited to meet the LFC Women squad at Melwood, as well as enjoying a tour of the facility and watching the team train.

The players spent time meeting the group and signing autographs before they headed out for training, allowing the girls to see first-hand what it takes to be a professional footballer.

Before leaving for a behind-the-scenes tour of Anfield, they were surprised with tickets for Liverpool’s Barclays Women’s Super League game against Arsenal at Anfield on Saturday.

Kerry Quinton, the girls’ teacher at St Brigid’s, said: “From the training ground to Anfield, the girls left feeling inspired.

“Meeting the team was an unforgettable experience for the girls, along with then watching them train. From the experience, the girls left energised and ready to cheer the team on against Arsenal.”
