The Reds have reportedly struck an agreement with the Bundesliga outfit for a transfer package worth in excess of £120m according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Reports say Liverpool have been locked in talks with the German outfit in recent weeks with the player said to have already agreed a move to Merseyside as the two clubs thrashed out a deal.
On Tuesday evening, however, it was said that a breakthrough over the potential record transfer had now been made and Wirtz looked set to finally seal a move to Arne Slot's Premier League champions.
