MatchLiverpool v Brentford: Team news
The captain started and completed Wednesday's 1-0 victory over Fulham, but will be assessed ahead of the Saturday evening kick-off at Anfield.
Diogo Jota continues to deal with knocks and also faces a fitness test, having been limited in training in the build-up to the game.
Fitness update ahead of Liverpool v Brentford
"Diogo has his back issue, bruised rib. He could train yesterday but he didn't do a lot, to be honest," Jürgen Klopp told reporters on Friday.
"He was not really in danger yesterday for any kind of contact or stuff like this, so we have to see there.
"Hendo, we have to see. He had yesterday a scan, didn't see the results yet. It will not be a big thing but maybe it's enough to rule out for tomorrow – I don't know that yet."
Thiago Alcantara has been ruled out of the fixture and the following three because of a hip injury.
Klopp added: "He will have the surgery and is out for the rest of the season."
Roberto Firmino, Naby Keita, Stefan Bajcetic and Calvin Ramsay remain unavailable for selection.
The Bees, meanwhile, have no fresh injury concerns, with head coach Thomas Frank saying pre-match: “Everyone from our game against Nottingham Forest will be available again.”
Brentford will continue to be without Pontus Jansson, Keane Lewis-Potter, Christian Norgaard and Thomas Strakosha, however.
But Frank can call on the services of Kristoffer Ajer again, with the defender available to feature at Anfield, having been out since March due to a calf complaint.
“They’re on a decent run. They’re a fantastic club, fantastic players and a fantastic manager,” Frank said of facing the Reds.
“When it’s rocking, Anfield is one of the most difficult grounds to go to. We experienced that last season, 3-0, clear defeat. So there’s a mountain to climb on Saturday.
“The flip side is that we always believe that we can do something in any game – that’s brought us to where we are today. But, obviously, they are clear favourites.”
