AcademyLiverpool U21s score four in friendly win over Liberia national team

Rob Page’s side hosted the fixture at the AXA Training Centre following their elimination from the Premier League 2 play-offs the previous weekend.

Midfielder Tommy Pilling opened the scoring for the Reds with a penalty and that advantage was doubled via an inventive Keyrol Figueroa backheel finish.

The latter supplied his second and Liverpool’s third of the contest during the second half, followed by another spot-kick, this one converted by Kareem Ahmed.

U21s player-coach Jay Spearing, who was involved for the final 25 minutes of the match, told Liverpoolfc.com: “It was a really good workout for the lads.

“It was good to get minutes into all of the boys and to see Ben Trueman back – he played for 70 minutes, which was great for him.”
