AcademyLiverpool U21s draw with Wrexham in friendly

A strong young Reds team went ahead early on when Trent Kone-Doherty opened the scoring, but a Wrexham side containing Conor Coady and Paul Mullin equalised on the half-hour mark through Alex Moore.

Calum Scanlon made his first appearance of the season following injury, while the likes of Trey Nyoni, Calvin Ramsay and Will Wright also played.

Liverpool took the lead in minute 13. Kieran Morrison hit the post with the rebound after Keyrol Figueroa had been denied in a one-on-one with visiting goalkeeper Callum Burton, but Kone-Doherty was there to convert the loose ball.

Ramsay was then thwarted by Burton as he looked to chip the ‘keeper and, from the resulting corner, Figueroa hit the woodwork with a header.

Burton was again on hand to prevent Ramsay from scoring with 20 minutes remaining, before the Wrexham ‘keeper twice saved headed attempts by Wright to ensure the game finished all square.
