NewsLiverpool U13s pay tribute to Franco Baresi at Virgil's Legacy Trophy
Former AC Milan and Italy defender Baresi died at the age of 66 in July.
Widely considered one of football’s greatest ever players, he won six league titles and three European Cups during a 20-year career at Milan – his only club.
Baresi captained I Rossoneri for 15 seasons and made more than 700 appearances, leading to the Milan No.6 jersey being retired when he hung up his boots.
He was also a member of Italy’s 1982 World Cup-winning squad and appeared in the 1994 final that they lost to Brazil.

The Reds’ first fixture at the Virgil’s Legacy Trophy event in Tilburg on Saturday saw them face their counterparts from AC Milan.
Arranged by U13s coach Mike Yates, ahead of kick-off Liverpool’s players presented the opposition with an LFC shirt in Baresi’s honour.
On the back was printed ‘Per Sempre Baresi – 6 – YNWA’.
They were joined in their mark of respect by Liverpool icon Steven Gerrard, who is attending the second edition of the competition founded by current Reds captain Virgil van Dijk.
