Liverpool are in talks to make Bayer Leverkusen defender Jeremie Frimpong their first signing of the summer transfer window.

Negotiations are ongoing with the player's representatives to agree a deal with the Reds ready to trigger Frimpong's release clause, which is believed to be in the region of £30million.

Frimpong, a right-sided player who has featured at both full-back and wing-back for Leverkusen, is keen to move to the newly-crowned Premier League champions.
