Liverpool ‘remain in talks’ over signing Bayer Leverkusen attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz despite earlier reports of a verbal agreement.

The Reds are said to still be working on a transfer deal to bring in the 22-year-old to bolster Arne Slot’s squad this summer.

Reports on Tuesday evening suggested a deal had been struck between the two teams over the potential transfer.

The claims, however, are now reported to be premature with a full agreement yet to be reached as the pair continue discussions.

Liverpool are said to be in negotiations still for Wirtz and are hoping to land his signature ahead of the upcoming 2025-26 campaign.
