Reds head coach Arne Slot was in the market for a new right-back following Trent Alexander-Arnold’s decision to leave upon the expiry of his contract at the end of the season.
The 24-year-old Frimpong, a Netherlands international, has been on the club’s radar for some time and was keen on a move to Anfield.
His release clause of £30million made the deal relatively straightforward and he is now due to undergo a medical.
