NewsLiverpool qualification for 2024-25 Champions League confirmed
By Chris Shaw
Following Tottenham Hotspur's defeat at Chelsea, the Reds are now mathematically guaranteed a top-four finish in the Premier League and a return to the Champions League after a one-year absence.
A new format has been confirmed for the tournament from next season, with the current 32-team group phase replaced by a new league format including 36 clubs.
Each side will play eight matches against eight different teams – four at home and four away – between September and January.
The top eight finishers in the league phase advance directly to the last 16, while sides placed ninth to 24th will contest two-legged play-offs to reach the knockout stage.
