Liverpool FC proudly marked LGBT+ History Month in February with a series of events and activities to reinforce its commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.

This year's celebration coincides with the fifth anniversary of Red Together, the club's dedicated ED&I initiative, which strives to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all.

At Anfield, the club hosted a special networking and panel event featuring former players Neil Mellor and Becky Easton, LGBT+ LFC Supporters Board representative and Kop Outs member Cassie Rattray, and LFC's director of impact Rishi Jain.

The event provided a platform for discussions on the progress made to date in fostering inclusivity in football as well as the challenges that remain.

Easton reflected on her playing career and the changing landscape of the women's game, highlighting the importance of maintaining its welcoming atmosphere as the sport continues to grow.

Mellor spoke about the need for continued visibility and allyship in football, acknowledging that while strides have been made, more can be done to ensure the game is truly inclusive.

Rattray reinforced the significance of fan culture in shaping an inclusive football experience, advocating for a future where all supporters feel safe and represented.

As part of the celebrations, young people from the Young Persons Advisory Service (YPAS) were also given a special opportunity to attend an LFC Women's match, supported by LFC Foundation, to promote representation and inclusion through football. This hands-on experience helped to inspire the next generation and showcase the club's commitment to ensuring that everyone has a place within the sport.

Maintaining the Advanced Level of the Premier League Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Standard (PLEDIS) and achieving its status as a Disability Confident Employer at Level 2 are just some of the milestones that demonstrate the club's steadfast mission to championing equality and diversity in all that it does.

Reflecting on the club's ongoing efforts, Jain said: "At Liverpool FC, we firmly believe that football is for everyone and our Red Together initiative is a testament to that commitment. We strive to create an inclusive environment both on and off the pitch, ensuring that every fan, player and staff member feels valued and respected. While we are proud of the progress we have made, we recognise that there is always more to do."
