Liverpool FC will pay tribute to the 97 supporters who lost their lives in the Hillsborough tragedy, ahead of the 35th anniversary, on Sunday.

At the Reds’ Premier League match versus Crystal Palace at Anfield, a minute’s silence will be observed and a mosaic displayed on the Kop prior to kick-off to remember the fans who died as a result of the events that occurred at the FA Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest on April 15, 1989.

There will be a commemorative edition of the matchday programme and tributes will also be displayed on LED boards surrounding the pitch.

At LFC Women’s closest home fixture to the anniversary, against Manchester City a fortnight ago, a period of silence was held and the players wore black armbands as a mark of respect.

Academy players are also taking part in a range of events to mark the anniversary, including educational sessions and the annual Hillsborough Memorial Football Tournament held in Kirkby.

On Monday April 15, players and staff across the club will observe a minute of silence at 3.06pm in memory of the 97 men, women and children who lost their lives.

April 15 is a significant and poignant date in the club’s history and one which brings LFC together in remembrance and thought to remember the 97 who lost their lives and to share love and support for their families, the survivors and all those impacted by the tragedy.
