ExplainedLiverpool to debut new Carabao Cup shirt badge against Southampton
By Chris Shaw
The EFL has implemented a change to the sleeve badges on shirts worn during the competition that means, from this season on, all previous winners will have an emblem that also includes the number of times they have lifted the trophy.
As record winners of the League Cup in its various guises over the years, the Reds’ sleeve badge will therefore show the number 10.
Most recently victorious at Wembley in 2024, Liverpool had previously claimed the cup four years in a row from 1981 to 1984, then in 1995, 2001, 2003, 2012 and 2022.
Supporters will see the new Carabao Cup sleeve badge for the first time on the pitch when Saints visit Anfield for a round-three tie on Tuesday night, kick-off 8pm BST.
