ClubLFC's pre-season tour highlights International Academy's growth in Hong Kong

For the players, staff and families connected to LFC International Academy Hong Kong, the tour represents the latest highlight of a thrilling journey.

Sherry Cheung, chairman of LFC International Academy Hong Kong, said: "The LFC tour is generating tremendous excitement among our players, their families and the wider football community in Hong Kong.

"For many, it's a dream come true to see their football heroes up close and to experience the energy of Liverpool FC right here in our city."

LFC's International Academies deliver coaching programs to young players around the world, using the same coaching methodologies that are used at the club's Academy in the UK.

International Academies teach and live by the LFC values, ensuring that children are developed both on and off the pitch.

Everything is underpinned by the togetherness that being part of the LFC family brings, and it is perhaps along these lines where the greatest impact of the team's presence will be felt.

Cheung continued: "The tour not only inspires our young players but also brings together families and fans, strengthening the sense of community and passion for the club.

"We look forward to welcoming the team and creating unforgettable memories for everyone involved."

A lasting and authentic LFC legacy

Bringing people together is something that LFC International Academy Hong Kong has done brilliantly since opening its doors for the first time in June 2018.

Since then, more than 25,000 children have participated in its coaching programs, helping to create a lasting legacy in the city and bring LFC closer to its fans within the city. Today, the Academy operates from seven different venues across the city.

Cheung said: "LFC IA Hong Kong has made a significant impact on youth football development in Hong Kong. Our Academy has provided world-class coaching and development opportunities to local players, instilling the values and philosophy of ‘The Liverpool Way' both on and off the pitch.

"We have fostered a passion for football, encouraged teamwork and helped young players develop confidence, discipline and leadership skills. Many of our players have gone on to represent their schools and districts, and we are proud to have contributed to the growth of football at the grassroots to elite level in the city."

Dan White, head of International Academies at LFC, added: "We established the LFC International Academy Hong Kong back in 2018 with the objective of offering a unique LFC coaching experience for local players. In that time, more than 25,000 young footballers have benefitted from the programme.

"Our dedicated team of staff offer weekly sessions across the age groups, successfully putting in place a development pathway which gives these participants opportunities to advance both on and off the pitch. This program is hugely beneficial to the local community and we're immensely proud of what has been achieved since its inception."

In 2023, a Social Return on Investment study found that LFC International Academy Hong Kong generates a social economic return of more than £1 million per year, while an annual survey of parents who have children in the programme found that 93 per cent would recommend to a friend.
