NewsLFC Women supporters encouraged to take part in Matt Beard applause

Former Reds manager Beard, who tragically died last September, will be remembered across all Barclays Women's Super League and WSL 2 fixtures this weekend.

Fans are encouraged to take part in a round of applause during the 13th minute of each game to honour Matt's life and celebrate all that he achieved.

Liverpool travel to Joie Stadium to face City in a 7pm BST kick-off tonight.

Ahead of the first anniversary of his passing, LFC unveiled two permanent memorials that recognised his extraordinary contribution to the club.

A memorial garden in his name was opened at the AXA Melwood Training Centre and a commemorative tree was planted in his honour on 97 Avenue outside Anfield.

Matt served as LFC Women manager from 2012 to 2015 and again from 2021 to 2025. He oversaw some of the most significant achievements in the team's history during those periods.

Under his leadership, the Reds won successive WSL titles in 2013 and 2014, before securing promotion back to the top division by winning the FA Women's Championship title in 2022.

In April this year, Matt was posthumously inducted into the Barclays Women's Super League Hall of Fame.
