TransferLFC Women seal signing of goalkeeper Khiara Keating
The 22-year-old joins the Reds on a permanent basis following the expiry of her contract at Manchester City.
In doing so, she reunites with head coach Gareth Taylor after they previously worked together at City.
A fourth new recruit for the club this summer, Keating arrives with a wealth of experience in her career already, having made her senior debut aged just 17.
She is a product of the City academy and has represented England at both youth and senior level – debuting for the Lionesses in October 2025.
“I think everyone knows Liverpool worldwide. It’s such a big club and I think the women’s team is striving for greatness,” Keating told Liverpoolfc.com, during her first interview at the AXA Melwood Training Centre.
“I think the style of football that they play, they actually try to play – which suits me and my position.
“I think they’re just going in the right direction and [it is] a project that I want to be part of.”
Keating made her breakthrough in the 2021-22 campaign for City, appearing five times across the Barclays Women’s Super League and Women’s League Cup.
She had also embarked on previous short loan spells at AFC Fylde and Coventry United.
In 2023-24, she established herself fully by playing 29 times in all competitions and winning the WSL Golden Glove award.
The stopper then bolstered her CV further by gaining Women’s Champions League experience in 2024-25.
Keating now moves to the Reds having featured nine times for City last season – keeping four clean sheets in the process – as they clinched a WSL and Women’s FA Cup double.
“The start of my career has been nothing but amazing. I’ve gained platforms and done brilliantly so far. But I needed that missing [piece of the] puzzle,” she added.
“And I think Liverpool can be that – where I’m playing week in, week out and I’m getting good game time, playing with a good team and winning trophies.”
Keating will wear the No.12 shirt.
