NewsLFC Women make annual Christmas visit to Alder Hey

Head coach Gareth Taylor and his team spent the afternoon at the children’s hospital in West Derby to spread some festive cheer.

The Reds were joined by club mascot Mighty Red and visited the wards to share LFC gifts with the young patients to celebrate the Christmas period.

Captain Grace Fisk said: "It's something we do every year as a club to try and spread a bit of joy here at Alder Hey. It's really nice and as players we look forward to it, we like to see the kids, give a few gifts out, hear what they are going through and try and give a bit of light.

"Even if we can take their mind off everything for a split second, give them a Liverpool scarf and put a smile on their faces. It's an easy thing for us to do and it means a lot for the people here and we are just so grateful that they welcome us and it's really special."

Head coach Taylor added: "It's nice to be able to come and find out a bit more about their story and it's nice for the girls to be able to experience this and show their support. It can be a humbling experience for sure, especially at this time of year, when you see young children who are struggling.

"The way that the people are here is incredible and for us we feel it's really important for us to show our thanks and our love, particularly at this time of year and just give our support."
