Gemma Bonner is set to make a final appearance for Liverpool FC Women after recovering from injury ahead of the season finale against Arsenal.

The Reds complete their Barclays Women’s Super League season when the Gunners visit Anfield in a 1pm BST kick-off at Anfield on Saturday.

It was announced today that Bonner, along with fellow defender Gemma Evans, will leave the club at the end of the campaign.

Bonner has missed Liverpool’s last five matches due to injury but head coach Gareth Taylor said on Friday afternoon: “It tells you everything about Gemma that she has really pushed, probably ahead of schedule, to get back from her injury to be ready for this game and to be in contention.

“That’s going to be nice and I think it’s just rewards for someone who has done so much for the football club.”

Taylor also revealed that Ceri Holland is in line to be fit enough for a place among the substitutes after she was forced off during last weekend’s Adobe Women’s FA Cup semi-final defeat, while Anna Josendal is likely to get minutes.

However, Lily Woodham and Sam Kerr will not feature.

Taylor added: “Ceri Holland is better. We think she’ll be available but only from the sidelines.

“I think hopefully we should start to see a bit more of Anna Josendal tomorrow. Again, [she] obviously came in in January and has had to be patient because she has had, as well as her injury, some other injuries that have obviously been picked up on the back of that.

“So, it’s just a case of building her back up and it’s a good opportunity to potentially see her tomorrow but also to be excited about having a good pre-season under her belt and getting ready for next season.

“Lily Woodham unfortunately has picked up a toe break, which is going to keep her out for tomorrow. There’s an outside chance she may be able to get back for the international window with Wales.

“Sam Kerr is training fully [but] has just come up short for tomorrow.

“But I think it’s one of those tomorrow – we want to go out, we want to be really competitive, we want to play our way [and] show what we can do and of course I think there are some players in there who are training well and who are really pushing to make contributions to the game.”
