NewsLFC Women analyst to take on London Marathon for charity
Kevan, who has been part of the Reds' backroom staff since 2019, is taking on the challenge – at the sixth time of applying – to raise money and awareness for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Along with completing the 26.2-mile run on April 21, he has set himself the target of raising £2,000 for a charity of great personal significance.
Kevan told Liverpoolfc.com: "I'm running for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, which is a charity that does work with individuals and families who suffer from type 1 diabetes.
"My girlfriend, Ashleigh, is type 1 diabetic, which basically means her body doesn't produce insulin to break down food, causing her blood sugar levels to constantly fluctuate.
"Ashleigh has always been super-lucky with the support and equipment she's had access to (both insulin pumps and sensors), and JDRF help to provide funding and access to options for those suffering from type 1 diabetes who need it.
"Obviously Colm [Smith, LFC Women strength and conditioning coach] did the marathon last year, and I took a lot of inspiration from him doing it. Though I won't be going after his time, I'm aiming to complete the run in under four hours.
"Training has been going really well. Myself, Colm, Chris Underwood and Joe Potts started a tradition last year to go for a run on every overnight trip. It's something we've carried on this year and I think we've ran close to 50km on overnight trips this year."
