Liverpool FC will proudly show its support for Stonewall’s Rainbow Laces campaign, which champions LGBT+ inclusion and equality in sport.

This season, Stonewall is celebrating the 10-year anniversary of #RainbowLaces, with the theme of ‘Lace up, to Keep it Up’ – keep up raising awareness, keep up supporting each other and keep up pushing to make sure sport and fitness is for everyone.

The club’s dedicated Rainbow Laces fixtures will take place over the next two weekends: at LFC Women v Brighton & Hove Albion at Prenton Park today and Liverpool v Fulham at Anfield on Sunday December 3.

As a sign of allyship and unity, both captains will proudly wear the rainbow armband, and Rainbow Laces-themed LED advertising, pin badges, ball plinths and handshake and substitutes boards will also be in place.

Rainbow Laces will also be available for LFC staff to lace up and show their support for the campaign and LGBT+ equality in sport.

Rishi Jain, director of impact at LFC, said: “Rainbow Laces has become such an iconic symbol of inclusion in football and one which we are proud to continue to support as part of our club-wide Red Together activity to incorporate equality, diversity and inclusion into all that we do.

“We believe that no-one should feel excluded from participating in or enjoying the game we all love or indeed any sport, which is why allyship is so important for providing a positive platform for the change that is still needed to ensure inclusivity for all.”

As part of its ongoing Red Together campaign and activities, the club will also use this period to promote the fantastic work and achievements to date of its LGBT+ employee network, which aims to empower LGBT+ employees to make a positive difference in the workplace and beyond.

LFC Foundation will also be hosting a series of Rainbow Laces-themed workshops across its programmes, delivering sessions across the Liverpool City Region to young people. It will also be making Rainbow Laces available for young players to wear in LFC Foundation fixtures.

Fans wanting to show their colours can choose from a variety of items in LFC’s 2023 Pride range, which is available to purchase in-store and online. A donation of the proceeds from sales of the LFC Pride range will be used to support local LGBT+ charities.

The Converse x Liverpool FC capsule collection, which was created in collaboration with a range of diverse local creatives – including members of local LGBT+ arts and social justice organisation Homotopia – is also available here.
