LFC pays respects on 38th anniversary of Heysel Stadium disaster
On May 29, 1985, at the European Cup final between Liverpool and Juventus, events in Block Z of the Heysel Stadium in Belgium tragically led to the deaths of 39 football fans and left hundreds more injured.
The club’s director of communications, Susan Black, and former striker John Aldridge laid a wreath beside the Heysel memorial plaque at Anfield on Monday morning as a mark of respect to those who died. Flags are also being flown at half-mast across club sites throughout the day.
