NewsLFC joins forces with The Girls' Network ahead of International Women's Day
Over the next 12 months, the two organisations will work together to connect professional women at the club with girls in their community.
Through The Girls’ Network’s accessible mentoring scheme, 10 women at the club will be trained to mentor and support a teenage girl. At the same time, girls will be invited to exclusive workshops and opportunities to enhance their skills and grow their confidence.
Rishi Jain, senior equality, diversity and inclusion manager at LFC, said: “As a club we are delighted to be working together with The Girls’ Network to support young women across Merseyside as we mentor the next generation.
“This collaboration forms an important part of the club’s Red Together work, which embodies its commitment to ensuring that equality, diversity and inclusion is embedded across everything it does.”
Ahead of International Women’s Day, mentees from Holly Lodge Girls College and mentors from the club came together at Anfield to enjoy a range of activities, including a reverse mentoring exercise, a chat with Liverpool FC Women’s Rianna Dean, journalist and television presenter Lynsey Hipgrave, and The Girls’ Network CEO Charley Young, as well as a guided tour of Anfield with LFCTV staff.
Young, co-founder and CEO of The Girls’ Network, added: “We are delighted to begin a strategic partnership with Liverpool Football Club as part of Red Together.
“There are many inspiring women working at the club, in a variety of different roles, and the impact of girls from the community having access to these role models can’t be overestimated.
“When better to celebrate this than ahead of International Women’s Day? We see the impact of mentoring every day and look forward to the journey ahead as women working at Liverpool Football Club become mentors to girls in their community.”
