Liverpool FC has filed its annual financial accounts for the year to May 31, 2025 – the club’s 20th league title-winning season.

The club achieved record revenues of more than £700m and was the highest-placed Premier League club in the Deloitte Football Money League.

Summary of the financial period:

  • Media revenue increased by £60m to £264m
  • Matchday revenue increased by £14m to £116m
  • Commercial revenue increased by £15m to £323m
  • Administrative costs increased by £57m to £657m
  • Staff costs increased by £42m to £428m
  • Overall revenue increased by £89m to £703m
  • Profit after tax was £8m

Alongside record revenue growth, administrative costs continued to increase significantly, which was mainly due to higher staffing costs, with an increase of £42m to £428m. Several other categories of costs have also seen double-digit growth in recent years, impacting the marginal return from core operations such as matchday.

The breakdown in turnover saw media revenue have the largest uplift due to the men’s team reaching the last 16 of the Champions League, compared to the quarter-finals of the Europa League in the previous season.

This reporting period was the first full season operating the new Anfield Road Stand, which supported the increase in matchday revenue, alongside on-pitch performance that saw the club win its second Premier League title in five years.

Commercial revenue continued to increase with strong growth in partnerships, retail and non-matchday events, including Anfield concerts with international superstars Taylor Swift and P!NK.

New partnerships signed across the season included Japan Airlines, Engelbert Strauss, Lucozade and Husqvarna, with two extensions agreed, most notably a 10-year renewal with Carlsberg, which will extend the Premier League’s longest-standing partnership to a total of 42 years.

Retail and ecommerce also increased revenues, with the official LFC Store app accounting for almost a quarter of all ecommerce revenue, with a 15 per cent increase in active weekly users.

Records continued to be broken across the club’s digital infrastructure, with LFC once again named the most-engaged Premier League club, generating 1.7bn social media fan engagements across this reporting period.

The club’s 20th league title win was the most-engaged day of all time with more than 62m social media engagements across all channels in a 24-hour period, according to Blinkfire Analytics.

LFC was also the most-watched Premier League club during the 2024-25 season across all competitions. According to Nielsen, the club had a cumulative global TV audience of more than 588m.

It also recorded the most club website visits in the Premier League, with 87m visits to Liverpoolfc.com in total across the campaign, and reached more than 200m social media followers across all global and international accounts. This included 50m Facebook followers, 47m on Instagram and 25m on TikTok.

The club continued with its commitment to the community and helped more people than ever before throughout this period.

LFC Foundation supported more than 145,000 people, with healthcare savings of more than £48m across the Liverpool City Region and beyond, while contributing £7m to the local economy. It also generated a social value of more than £80m, and for every £1 spent LFC Foundation created a social value return of £10.28.

Through its Red Neighbours programme, LFC Foundation also donated more than £500,000 worth of essential food hampers, stadium tours and matchday experiences, and supported the delivery of 1,000 free meals per week in the community.

Jenny Beacham, LFC’s chief financial officer, said: “We make no secret of our desire to run and operate a financially sustainable club, to grow revenue streams, and to do all we can off the pitch to help bring more success on it.

“The 2024-25 season is a great example of how this can work, with record revenues alongside the men’s team winning our 20th league title.

“The challenge for us is to continue with our growth through the incredible work that we do in areas such as our partnership portfolio and retail offerings, as well as continuing to diversify our focus to best serve our global fan base.

“The club does face significant cost challenges, including rises in administrative, staffing and operational costs, alongside the need for us to compete at the highest level of the game across our men and women’s teams.

“Since this reporting period we have invested significantly to continue to enhance our playing squads, investing in the club’s present and in its future too.

“We’re also extremely proud of our ongoing and impactful work in communities through LFC Foundation and via our award-winning sustainability programme, The Red Way.

“As always, we’re fully committed to operating in accordance with football’s financial rules and regulations, while continuing our focus on providing the best possible platform for success on and off the pitch for our supporters here in Liverpool and around the world.”
