NewsJürgen Klopp hails form of 'wonderful' Joe Gomez
Liverpool No.2 Gomez has been a hugely versatile option to the Reds boss this season, and indeed played three different roles during Saturday’s 1-0 Premier League win at Nottingham Forest.
He started in a deep-lying midfield position and later switched to left-back, before completing the game on the right-hand side of defence.
Gomez has totalled 37 appearances already in 2023-24 – his highest figure since playing 43 times in 2019-20.
“If you play football at this level, there is [a big] difference between centre-half, full-back, right, left, to the No.6 – and he is capable of that transition in his mind,” said Klopp.
“He is one of those stories. What a wonderful player he is and I am so happy he can show that again.
“In midfield, the game is coming from all angles. Everything changes and he has dealt with it so well, it’s crazy. Really good and super-important.”
