NewsJürgen Klopp agrees to become new Germany national coach
Former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has agreed in principle to become the new coach of the Germany men’s national team.
Klopp has been out of management for two years since he said farewell to the Reds at the end of the 2023-24 season.
His unforgettable near-nine-year tenure at Anfield saw him return the club to the heights of the game domestically and in Europe.
Arriving in October 2015, Klopp went on to guide Liverpool to triumphs in the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, Premier League, League Cup (twice) and FA Cup.
He is now set to take the helm of his country’s national side following the departure of Julian Nagelsmann after this summer’s World Cup.
“An agreement was reached on the key points of a potential contract. Talks will continue next week,” said a German Football Association statement.
“Both sides are confident that the negotiations – subject to an agreement with Klopp's current employer, Red Bull – can ultimately be successfully concluded.”
It would be the fourth coaching position of his career; Klopp had seven-year spells in charge of both FSV Mainz 05 and Borussia Dortmund prior to his time at the Reds.
