Jordan Henderson believes Liverpool's hard work behind the scenes is paying off after they extended their Premier League winning run to five games.

The Reds defeated Fulham 1-0 at Anfield on Wednesday evening thanks to Mohamed Salah's first-half penalty and a number of Alisson Becker saves.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com post-match, Henderson shed light on the background to the squad's recent resurgence and detailed the approach heading into the final four fixtures of the campaign.

Extended highlights: Liverpool 1-0 Fulham

It was a bit nervy at times but it's another three points in the bag. What were your thoughts on the game?

I thought there were a lot of good things. Things that we've been working on worked well at times. Of course we had to dig in as well at times and defend, and Ali made a couple of great saves. But overall I think we've got to be pleased with the performance, with the result and obviously the clean sheet as well.

They can't all be 4-3 thrillers, sometimes it's about grinding results out and finding different ways to win...

Yeah, that's important. 1-0 is nice – it's a clean sheet. We controlled the game for large parts. Yes, second half, we've got to defend a bit more but I thought we did that well and we looked dangerous as well on the break. We've got to be pleased. We're picking up results, the performances are much better. Yes, we can improve, of course, but we just want to keep doing that from now until the end of the season.

What do you think is the reason for that consistency that has come in recent weeks?

I think a number of reasons. We're playing some great stuff at times, tactically we've done a few tweaks which have helped us and then you gain a little bit of momentum with confidence and things like that. When you pick up results, it's always easier, it's always nice to get wins under the belt and from that you gain a bit of momentum, you gain a bit of confidence and things change. We've worked really hard all season to try to change that but it's been working well for the last five games or so, if not more. Hopefully we can just continue that now until the end of the season.

Does it feel different in terms of confidence with the form that you're in and the momentum you have at the moment?

When you're picking up wins, that confidence comes, the momentum comes a little bit and you can sense that a little bit over the last few games. But it's not easy, you've still got to work for it, you've got to work hard. Every game in the Premier League is a different challenge and we've just got to keep our heads down, keep working hard and see where it takes us come the end.

You were indebted to a few fine saves from Ali. He never lets you down, does he?

No! We've had to rely on him a few times, to be fair, but [he was] amazing again, always on his toes and there when needed for us.

Press conferenceJürgen Klopp on LFC 1-0 Fulham: 'We had to show big fight to get the result'Jürgen Klopp praised the 'big fight' shown by his Liverpool squad after they secured an important 1-0 win over Fulham in the Premier League at Anfield on Wednesday night.

Obviously the table looks better than it has done for a while. All you can do is keep pushing and keep winning your games...

I don't like thinking about other teams. Especially with the inconsistency that we've had for the majority of the season, it's about focusing on what we can do and what we need to do as a team better. You get what you deserve in this league. So you never know what can happen in football but for us it's about focusing on the next game, the next challenge and hopefully that puts us in good stead come the end of this season and the start of next.
