NewsJoe Gomez and Faye Kirby win PFA Community Champion awards

Both players have been recognised for their ongoing support of the LFC Foundation, the club's official charity, which has seen them visit the Foundation's programmes out in the community during the 2025-26 season.

The PFA Community Champion award aims to highlight players who have supported work within communities and for good causes central to their role as a footballer.

Both players were presented with their awards by LFC Foundation participants who had been chosen as a reward for their dedication and progress on their respective programmes.

Gomez was presented with his award by Kirkby High School student Emmanuel, who has continued to progress in school with the support of the Onside programme delivered by the LFC Foundation. Emmanuel was invited to the AXA Training Centre to present the award and was given the opportunity to meet other members of the squad to make it a memorable morning.

Joe's visit to Kirkby High School earlier this year was a highlight of his community work, surprising the class of secondary school students during a regular Onside session. The visit was part of the Premier League's More Than A Game campaign and featured on BBC’s Match of the Day.

The visit saw Joe spend time in the class, taking part in activities and finding out more about the positive impact of the programme on the students.

On receiving the award, Joe said: "I'm super proud, obviously what we do on the pitch is massive, but this club is so much more than a football club. To be able to play a small part in having a positive impact means a lot and I don't take it for granted and we know it’s our responsibility.

"The work of the LFC Foundation is huge and it can't be overstated how much they do and how much of an impact they have in the community and we are lucky to have them."

Faye Kirby was presented with her award by Ava, who progressed from the LFC Foundation's Emerging Talent Centre programme to join the U14 Academy squad, before recently being offered a place within the Pro Game Academy U16s for a further two seasons. As recognition for her fantastic progress through the pathway, the aspiring young footballer was invited to the AXA Melwood Training Centre to meet Faye and present the award.

Kirby has played a key role in helping to highlight the LFC Foundation's work throughout the season, in particular around participation for girls and women in sport, both through the Pathway to Works programme and the Premier League Kicks girls' sessions at Anfield Sports and Community Centre (ASCC).

The session at ASCC saw a record number of young girls turn up to meet Faye and Liverpool FC Women teammate Gemma Evans, and take part in an inspiring Q&A about the challenges they faced as young girls in football and find out more about their careers so far.

Matt Parish, CEO of the LFC Foundation, said: "We are always grateful of the support of the players from both the men's and women's teams and this year we have seen even more of them out in the community which has been fantastic.

"Joe and Faye have both been brilliant for us in helping to support our work and raise awareness of what we do and we look forward to continuing to build on this next season."
