Denise O’Sullivan urged her teammates to ‘keep our heads up’ after disappointment in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup.

Liverpool led by two goals early on in their semi-final against Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday, with O’Sullivan and Beata Olsson on target.

But the Seagulls launched a comeback and secured a 3-2 result at St Helens Stadium as Nadine Noordam scored the winner five minutes into stoppage time.

O’Sullivan said post-match: “We got off to a good start, the first half was a really good team performance.

“The second half looked completely different. That’s football at the end of the day.

“I’m really proud of the team and we gave everything out there. There’s not many words I can say right now, it’s just very disappointing.”

The Republic of Ireland international continued: “It just wasn’t our day. The girls gave everything up to the 95th minute, they kept going to the very end.

“But they scored from another set-piece. One in the first half, one in the second half – they were kind of similar situations, similar goals.

“Very disappointing but we’ve got to keep our heads up, we’ve got an important game to finish off the season next week.”

O’Sullivan was one of several new signings brought to the club during the January transfer window.

The added depth to the squad has helped produce an uptick in positive results since, following a difficult beginning to 2025-26.

“That’s one thing but I think the mentality of the team,” the No.6 said of the Reds’ form in the calendar year.

“This team has gone through an awful lot throughout the year and the team just stuck together through everything. That mentality going into games now.

“Obviously having the depth of players on the bench that can come in and change games, that has been really important for the team.

“One thing this team does is get together and after this game we’ll need to regroup again and stick together and finish out the game with Arsenal at Anfield.”
