News'It's crazy how good Mo Salah is - he deserves absolutely everything'

Salah’s landmark strike helped Jürgen Klopp’s side produce another Premier League comeback at Selhurst Park, with Harvey Elliott netting a stoppage-time winner after Jean-Philippe Mateta’s penalty had given Palace the lead.

Only four players in Liverpool’s history – Ian Rush, Roger Hunt, Gordon Hodgson and Billy Liddell – had reached a double century of goals for the club prior to Salah, who has achieved the feat in only 327 games.

“It’s crazy how good he is, as a player and especially as a man,” Tsimikas told Liverpoolfc.com post-match. “He always works very hard and always tries to work more, especially with finishing. He absolutely deserves everything.

“He’s my guy in the team, we are always together. I’m really happy for him and glad to have him next to me for his achievement.”

Liverpool had to dig deep in order to secure the three points in south London, scoring twice in the final 14 minutes as they came from behind to win in the Premier League for the second weekend in a row.

“It was really hard,” Tsimikas said. “[It is] a very tough place to come but at the end we saw again our character. We never give up, Harvey scored this unbelievable goal and we took the three points.”

He added: “They were very compact from the start of the game. We tried to create something but it didn’t go well. So it was really, really tough and always when we come here it’s a hard pitch to play on.

“At the end the only thing that matters is the three points and we have to keep going for the rest of the season.”

Tsimikas also paid tribute to the performance of the returning Alisson Becker, whose vital saves in the first half from Jefferson Lerma and in stoppage time to deny Joachim Andersen helped secure the three points.

“When we speak about Ali we are speaking, for me personally, about the best goalkeeper in the world,” the Greece international said. “What saves, unbelievable! What a guy as well.”

Reflecting on the importance of the result in terms of the side’s ambitions this season, with 16 league games now played, Tsimikas finished: “At the start of the season we made some changes, especially in the midfield position, and we set our goals. We said from the start of the season we go for everything we can.

“We have to take it game by game until the end of the season and I think the future can be bright for us. We have to work even harder just to give absolutely everything on the pitch.”
