NewsInterview: Will Wright's LFC story so far, pre-season aims and 'best weekend of my life'
On the day the teenager's move from Salford City was officially announced last August, Wright went on to appear for Liverpool's senior team at Anfield.
It was one of many memorable moments for the forward that week.
Recalling those few days, the 18-year-old tells Liverpoolfc.com: "I remember being passed by the Premier League that I can train and my first training session was on the Friday, and then we [the U21s] had a game on the Saturday.
"Before that game on the Saturday, I think it was like a one o'clock or two o'clock kick-off maybe, I did my driving test at like eight in the morning and passed, so that was good.
"Then on the Monday night, I played at Anfield. It was probably the best weekend of my life, to be fair."
Wright's bow in L4 came off the bench during the second half of a friendly encounter with Athletic Club.
He nearly got on the scoresheet, too, having a strike on goal saved by Spain international Unai Simon.
"It was a dream come true really," Wright continues.
"For me, I only started playing academy football at 15, 16. To be able to say two years later I'd be playing at Anfield with all the players that I'm playing with now and Mo [Salah], Virg [van Dijk], it was such a dream come true really and definitely overshot what I originally thought I could do. I'm really proud."
Later in the campaign, Wright was part of the matchday squad for competitive affairs on four occasions.
He's determined for more in 2026-27 and further down the line.
Wright says: "Obviously [I] hope to go on tour maybe, get some minutes and show the fans what I'm about. Then long-term plans, hopefully just play for Liverpool and become the No.9."
Wright has been described by U21s head coach Rob Page as a 'proper striker' who 'grinds the opposition defenders down' and 'loves a battle'.
He produced six goals and five assists during a disrupted debut term in Premier League 2.
"Obviously being younger, it was a pretty big move for me. My time has been really good," Wright reflects.
"I think my first year was all about settling in but I think I've done more than just settle in. I think I've shown everyone who I am and what I'm about.
"Obviously I started to get more opportunities towards the end of the season. I picked up an injury in September and only came back in January, but I think since then I've come back stronger and fitter. I think I've shown everyone what I'm about."
