Harvey Elliott recorded a brace and an assist for England U21s on Thursday evening as the Young Lions earned an emphatic 9-1 victory over Serbia.
Lee Carsley’s squad made it two wins from two in Group F of their 2025 U21 European Championship qualifying campaign at the City Ground.
Elliott struck his nation’s third goal of the contest in added time at the end of the first half after Serbia had earlier taken the lead, firing into the top corner of the net from the edge of the area.
He then rounded off the evening with another solo strike in second-half stoppage time, shooting underneath the goalkeeper to complete the scoring, having minutes earlier assisted for Jonathan Rowe for the eighth goal of the night.

Jarell Quansah was also a late substitute in Nottingham, stepping off the bench to make his debut at U21 level for England.
Elsewhere, Andy Robertson and Scotland were beaten 2-0 away by Spain in Euro 2024 qualifying at Estadio de La Cartuja in Seville.
The Liverpool left-back was forced to go off in the first half after picking up a shoulder injury following a clash with goalkeeper Unai Simon in the home net.
Head coach Steve Clarke said post-match: “Obviously he’s hurt his shoulder. We’ll have a look, obviously he’ll go back to his club.
“It always seems to happen when you lose one player in a position, so we lose Kieran [Tierney] off the left side... Andy’s picked up a shoulder injury, so we’ll see how it is.
“We’ll see how it settles down and hopefully he’s good for his club as quickly as possible and he’s ready to help us in November.”
Mohamed Salah, meanwhile, earlier captained Egypt to a 1-0 friendly victory over Zambia in the United Arab Emirates.
A goal from Hamdy Fathy in the fourth minute of added time secured the win for the Pharaohs, with Salah also substituted in stoppage time for his nation.
