Luis Diaz starred for Colombia in their World Cup qualifier overnight as he scored twice to help his nation defeat Brazil.

It was a busy evening for Liverpool players in the CONMEBOL preliminaries for 2026, with four Reds involved for their countries.

Diaz struck twice in the last 15 minutes of the contest at Estadio Metropolitano as Colombia came from behind to earn a 2-1 victory over Alisson Becker’s Brazil, who had earlier been put ahead by Gabriel Martinelli in the opening half.

Both Liverpool players completed the full contest on what was an emotional occasion for Diaz with his father watching on in Barranquilla.

Elsewhere, Darwin Nunez scored the second goal in a 2-0 away win for Uruguay against Argentina, with Alexis Mac Allister featuring in the first half of the game for the home side.

Nunez broke away and converted a low finish three minutes from time to secure the spoils after Ronald Araujo's opener, sealing victory for Marcelo Bielsa's side in Buenos Aires.
