The Reds full-back captained his nation in their deciding clash against Denmark at Hampden Park in Group C.

Scotland struck twice in added time in what transpired to be a topsy-turvy encounter as they sealed a dramatic 4-2 victory to secure their place at next summer's tournament.

"That just sums up this squad. It's never-say-die and we just keep going," Robertson told BBC Sport post-match.

"We keep going right to the end and it's one of the craziest games of football and we've certainly put the country through it. I'm sure it was well worth it - we're going to the World Cup! I can't believe it."

Elsewhere, goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili featured for Georgia in a 2-1 defeat by Bulgaria as they concluded their involvement in Group E.

Earlier in the day, Wataru Endo completed the full match as Japan beat Bolivia 3-0 in a friendly meeting.

At U21 level in European Championship qualifying, Trent Kone-Doherty was involved in Republic of Ireland's 4-0 loss to Andorra, while Kieran Morrison played in Northern Ireland's 4-0 defeat by Greece.

Armin Pecsi, meanwhile, was selected in goal for Hungary as they were beaten 2-0 by Croatia.

For England U19s, Trey Nyoni started, while Rio Ngumoha was a late substitute for the Young Lions, who overcame Scotland 4-0 in Euros qualifying.
