News'I feel like I've been here for ages - I'm really enjoying Liverpool'
Grace Fisk is eager to build upon an opening half-season with Liverpool FC Women that has made the defender feel right at home.
Fisk linked up with Matt Beard’s Reds last summer having spent the previous three-and-a-half years at West Ham United Women.
The No.4 has been a regular in the starting line-up ever since, clocking up 14 appearances in all competitions, including an ever-present 10 Barclays Women’s Super League starts.
Liverpool are set to resume the campaign later this month having signed off 2023 with a 2-1 comeback victory at Manchester United Women.

Watch on YouTube“I feel like I’ve settled really well and I feel really at home now,” said Fisk in an interview for the latest edition of WALK ON, our official eMagazine.
“The other girls and the staff have helped make that transition seamless for me and I feel like I’ve been here ages. I’m really enjoying my time in Liverpool and at the club.”
On her ambitions for the remainder of 2023-24, Fisk said: “I think the main thing for me is just to continue to play regularly. We’ve got a very competitive squad, a lot of good players in the same position [as me].
“Personally, it’s just about making sure I put in good performances and do what I can to help the team. It’s my first year at Liverpool and I want to focus on really cementing my place here and making the first year as good as possible.”
The 25-year-old has been primarily deployed in a back three by Beard, combining with Gemma Bonner and fellow summer recruit Jenna Clark in the centre of defence.
Bonner has already regained the club’s appearance record in the WSL era this season – and Fisk is relishing the opportunity to learn from her teammate.
“It’s really good to learn from someone like her,” she said of Bonner.
“I’ve been lucky in that I’ve played under a lot of experienced players and leaders in the past, like Kate Longhurst and Gilly Flaherty, who have both been at Liverpool too and also played well over 100 WSL games.
“Playing alongside people like that and Gemma throughout pre-season and the first couple of months of the season has been really good.
“She’s also very open to learning as well – she’s not shut off to that despite her experience – so it's been really good to learn from her and help each other where we can.”
Prior to her time at West Ham, Fisk paired studies in the USA with playing football at college level – an experience she remembers fondly and continues to utilise.
“Whenever anyone asks, I always say it was one of the best things I ever did,” she said. “It was an amazing experience to get a university degree and play football pretty much full-time: training every day, matches every week.
“It was a different culture and a different experience for me and it has also helped me to grow up and mature a bit.
“A lot of people in our squad have had that experience in some capacity so it’s nice to share experiences and just kind of reminisce about it, but it was an amazing experience and I loved it.”
