InterviewHow Ryan Gravenberch plans to help Liverpool achieve more glory next season

The 23-year-old was consistently outstanding after transitioning seamlessly to a new role at the base of the Reds’ midfield at the start of last season.

He was named Premier League Young Player of the Season in recognition of his crucial contribution to the success of Arne Slot’s first campaign in charge and has set his sights on achieving more in 2025-26.

When asked to outline his targets for the coming campaign, Gravenberch told Liverpoolfc.com: “To make it a really nice season again. My aims are like last season, I just want to be there for the team and to show myself again and be as consistent as I can.”

Preparations for the new season are now well under way and Gravenberch was speaking after Liverpool’s Wednesday morning training session in Hong Kong.

“You see the weather, it’s actually very warm! But it’s nice being in Hong Kong and we are making ourselves ready for the competition ahead,” he said.

“I think now everyone is here from the start. Last season it was the Euros [and Copa America] so a lot of people were not there [during pre-season]. Now we can start again with everyone and make a really nice pre-season.”

New signings such as Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong are present in Asia and Gravenberch, an international teammate of the latter, added: “Jeremie, obviously I know him for a long time already so I have a really good relationship with him. So I’m really happy that he is here.

“We had a little FaceTime [before he signed]. We spoke to each other and he asked me about Liverpool and everything and I gave him really good advice! I am happy that he is here.

“I think everyone knows Florian and also here in training he is a really good player: technical, really good vision, so I am really happy that he is here and I can’t wait for the season to start also to play with him.”
