Harvey Elliott was proud of the resilience Liverpool displayed yet again in the 3-1 victory at LASK - but caveated that by insisting improvements can still be made.

The Reds came from behind in their Europa League opener in Austria on Thursday night to ensure they made a winning start in Group E.

After Florian Flecker's 14th-minute opener, Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah scored in the second half at Raiffeisen Arena to complete the turnaround.

Shortly after, Liverpoolfc.com spoke to Elliott, who started and completed the match – read on for his reaction...

On turning around another game...

We're not trying to make it hard for ourselves, it's something that we need to improve on. We need to start off better and not give away as many chances as we did. Maybe next time we won't have that kind of luck or maybe resilience won't go our way and may not be able to get the three goals again. But thankfully we did it again and we took our chances well. Even though we went 1-0 down, we stayed in the game, we showed good desire and resilience to come back and win.

On being able to pass on the manager's demands to the new midfielders...

It's not only for them two [Ryan Gravenberch and Wataru Endo] but for the team and for the club to set the best example possible. At the end of the day, we're going to need everyone this season and it's the best way of being successful. Everyone's going to be needed and needs to play a big role. It's just about taking each opportunity and putting the most into the game. Each and every game I play, I just try to emphasise what Liverpool means and just go out and play with a smile on my face. As well as that, work as hard as I can for the badge and for the new guys to help them along the way and try to set a good example.

On Gravenberch's assist and performance...

It was unbelievable. We know Ryan brings that dynamism in the midfield and he showed that. He was magnificent and what a way to start his Liverpool career off, as well as Endo as well. It might be a bit hard for these players coming into a new team, a new environment and playing such important games like this. But they both played very well and so did everyone else in this team that featured. It's just about building on it and keep taking it into the next games.

On showing professionalism in the Europa League this season...

LASK came out with great support and were there throughout the whole game. Even when they went 3-1 down, they were still cheering the team on and still driving them on. Each and every game, we're going to face that, especially the away games. We just need to settle the crowd. In the first half we weren't the best but [in the] second half we came out, controlled the tempo, we took the game in our stride and just kept building on the confidence and kept getting chances. It's just about us putting them away and that's what we did three times. So, we can come away happy but there's still things to work on.
