InterviewHarvey Elliott: It's not going to be an easy game - but we're ready

Arne Slot's squad travel south on Monday night to take on the Seagulls at Amex Stadium in their penultimate game of the 2024-25 campaign (8pm BST kick-off).

Liverpool make the trip as top-flight champions having already secured title glory in late April and are looking to end the season in strong fashion before the summer break.

Fabian Hurzeler's outfit pose the first of two examinations left outstanding for the Reds – with Elliott knowing the hosts will offer difficult opposition to the title winners.

"Brighton are an amazing team and have an amazing style of play," the midfielder told Liverpoolfc.com.

"They work on it each and every week and cause many teams problems so it's not going to be an easy game, that's for sure. We just need to make sure that we're ready, we're fully committed, fully focused and hopefully we can go and get the job done."

He added: "The season has gone very quick! For us it's been successful and winning the league this early has kind of put us in a strange position. I feel like we've had to deal with it a certain way.

"It's [about] not getting too carried away with the enjoyment and the excitement of everything and at the same time making sure [that] we focus on the games and put all of our effort and commitment into the games."

On finding a balance between celebrating winning the league and remaining focused...

I think we need to be 100 per cent focused within the games. We need to treat it as an important game, which they are for some players because some of us haven't played as much this season. On top of that it's good fitness, it's a good runout, and especially with the summer coming up, we have big tournaments as well, so it'll be good fitness and good game exposure for us.

On there still being a lot to play for in the final two games...

Yeah, absolutely. I think just more for ourselves as well to establish why we are champions and put in performances to show that. It's two tough teams, one away game, one home game. As I said, we just need to be fully committed, fully focused and treat it like a normal game and not show disrespect. We want to go out there, we want to win and it's good game exposure for us. Going out and playing football is always a lovely moment and to enjoy it is a big part of it as well.

On being able to become the first Liverpool team to score in every away game of the season at Brighton...

We need to make sure we do it then! It's as simple as that. I'm sure we will. We have the quality within the team and within the squad to craft a goal up from something. Let's hope we can achieve that against Brighton.

On wanting to take some momentum into the final game of the season against Crystal Palace at Anfield...

Absolutely. We want to set ourselves up in the best position. For me, there's nothing worse than losing a football game. I don't want to ruin what's to come after it by losing - but it's down to us. We need to stay committed and make sure we can get the job done. Then we can think about these things after.

On it being a dream for him as a Liverpool fan to lift the Premier League title with the Reds...

It's going to be an amazing feeling, that's for sure. Now especially with the crowd and with the fans all around the world. We just need to make sure that we celebrate together because we're all in this and we all need to enjoy these moments.
